The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Ethiopia Office has conducted a second-round assessment at the Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) laboratories to evaluate and enhance testing capabilities for agricultural and processed food products.
The evaluation focused specifically on building technical capacity for Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and veterinary drug residue analysis testing. The initiative aims to strengthen national standards and ensure the quality and safety of Ethiopia’s agricultural exports and domestic food supplies.
As part of the assessment, the KOICA delegation held a discussion with ECAE Director General Engineer Meaza Abera and members of the enterprise’s management team to align on technical requirements and strategic goals. This assessment is a key milestone under the broader Ethiopian National Quality Management Capacity Enhancement Project in the Agro Sector, a joint effort designed to modernize testing infrastructure and support economic growth in the country’s agricultural sector.
