The Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) has extended its testing laboratory operations in Dire Dawa, according to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD). Following a formal visit to the ECAE Dire Dawa branch office to assess its present operations and technical capabilities, the Prime Minister provided this information.

In a message shared on his social media platforms, Prime Minister Abiy highlighted that the Enterprise operates according to international standards. He emphasized that the institution provides critical quality assurance services to a wide range of stakeholders, including: manufacturers and service providers, exporters and importers, regulatory bodies, research institutions and consumers.

The Prime Minister noted that the new laboratory was organized specifically to support the Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone and the Dry Port. By establishing this facility, the Enterprise ensures that manufacturers and service providers in the region have immediate access to essential testing services, reducing logistical hurdles and streamlining trade. According to the Prime Minister, the facility continues to build on the Enterprise’s track record of providing quality certification for diverse sectors, including: edible oils and various food products, Petroleum products, chemicals, cosmetics and detergent products, construction materials and inputs. The expansion is viewed as a significant step in strengthening Ethiopia’s quality infrastructure and bolstering the competitiveness of local products in the global market.
