As part of their ongoing training on food safety, experts from different governmental regulatory bodies and private food manufacturing industries visited Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprises laboratories today. The visit aimed to provide the trainee officers with practical insights into food safety testing, inspection and certification services provided by ECAE. Mr Abel Anberbir (Operations Deputy Director General at ECAE) gave them a brief on the testing laboratory services provided by ECAE.
The trainees engaged in an open discussion with ECAE’s Director General, Engineer Meaza Abera, about challenges faced by ECAE, capacity building, operation systems accreditations, and overall service delivery capacity of ECAE in food safety areas.
The trainees were led by Dr. I (IRENE) Koomen programme coordinator in Ethiopia. Resilient Agriculture for Inclusive and Sustainable Ethiopian Food Systems (RAISE-FS) is a four-year program funded by the Dutch Embassy in Addis Ababa and hosted by Stichting Wageningen Research Ethiopia, based in Addis Ababa, to bring about transformation in the Ethiopian food system.
