
The 2017 budget year 9-month plan performance review was conducted under the theme of “Regional Integration and Global Competitiveness for the Growth of the Trade Sector,” senior and middle-level leaders of responsible institutions, including the Minister of Trade and Regional Integration of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia participated on the review. The review covered the ministry office and the responsible institutions nine months performance review.
Presenting its performance review on the forum, ECAE, one of the responsible institutions, explained that during the nine months of the 2017 fiscal year, ECAE provided 23,636 services in laboratory testing, export and domestic product inspection and certification. Additionally, ECAE provided 1,403,415.45 m/ton of soil fertilizer and various bulk cargoes inspection and 29,712,080 liters of edible oil inspection services at the Port of Djibouti, as well as. “ECAE was able to play its part in ensuring quality of products and services and helping to build a fair-trading system based on quality by coordinating with other stakeholders,” the company’s director general, Engineer Meaza Abera, said during the presentation of the performance report.
In his closing remarks at the review forum, Dr. Kassahun Gofe, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, stated that with coordination and collaboration, we have made significant progress in the trade sector over the last nine months. In closing, he said that these achievements should be expanded upon and that the next three months should be devoted to fixing the sector’s shortcomings and improving its efficacy. Additionally, he specified future focus areas in his conclusion.
