Members of the Standing Committee led by the Hon W/r. Asha Yahya, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Trade and Tourism Affairs of the Federal House of People’s Representatives, conducted a field visit at ECAE. The field visit intended to provide monitoring, control, and support by physically visiting the institutions to ensure that they are carrying out their duties as required by proclamation or regulation in addition to reviewing reports.
During the field visit, the Committee Members toured the ECAE’s testing laboratories, inspection and certification activities of the ECAE, which strives to advance fair trade and create a competitive economy while safeguarding the environment and consumer health and safety.
Honorable Engineer Meaza Abera, the Director General of ECAE, also gave the Standing Committee members a nine-month performance report for the 2017 fiscal year. The members wrapped up the visit by outlining areas that need further focus and expressing their happiness with the field visit and presentation they received.
