Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) upgraded its off-grid solar energy testing laboratory in order to check the quality of products based on Market Check Test Method (MCM) and the Initial Screening Method (ISM) for the Stand- Alone Solar (SAS) energy products up to 350W. The lab upgraded in collaboration with Africa Clean Energy (ACE) initiative, funded by the UK government through the Foreign, Common Wealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the International Financial Corporation (IFC).
Upgrading this lab, enables ECAE to ensure the quality of Stand-Alone Solar energy products in full capacity on the Ethiopian market by conducting market surveillance test in collaboration with the ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI). It will also enables ECAE to provide testing, inspection and certification services for local SAS energy product manufacturers and assemblers.
